Stratford League Overview

The Stratford Herald Triples League is divided into three divisions.
Each division has eight teams from various clubs around the area.
The games take place on a Friday evening at 6pm prompt.
Each division plays at a different venue, clubs taking it in turns to host the game.
Normally the host club makes some refreshments and the bar is usually open after the match.
For 2014 we have entered four teams.
All the teams have at least 4 players so that we can rotate and give people a game and also cover for people taking holidays.
The team for the first match consists of 3 “named” players; one of the 3 has to play in the team each week and is not allowed to play in another team or division. The “floaters” can play in any team as necessary.
The matches commence in June and finish in mid August, omitting County Finals Day late July.
A number of the ladies who play have been in the teams since its conception in 2008, others were new last year and a brand new team has been entered for this season, Lillington D.
It is a competitive league, and it is better if players have a couple of years bowling experience before they play. As it is triples, then whoever is playing number two has to be able to read the head with some degree of confidence. Coaching is always available for this skill should you want it, just ask one of the club coaches.
Lastly there are cash prizes for the winners in each division, so it is always nice to win something to put back into club funds, as the club pays for all entrance fees. A charge is made to each player for each game, in the past it has been £2 each. A green fee is paid to each club that host a match, so this money is used to pay them and also for the prizes at the end of the season.
